Fantastic BSJ performance despite one point loss.

This was a fantastic game of ladies gaelic football played by two strong, fit and skillful teams. It was a joy to watch with only ever a point or two between the teams once the game settled. The parents’ reaction to play was also a joy to watch with the positive optimistic parents offering kind support when BSJ lost the ball.. “Hard luck, next ball” and the pessimists opting for “OMG that pass will lose us the game.” You will be glad to hear no action lost us the game! In the cut and thrust of a game both teams won and lost the ball numerous times as all GAA players do in a normal game. In summary it was just a humdinger that could have gone either way and to be honest a draw would have been a fairer result.
The BSJ ladies played some fantastic football with both passing and kicking skills on the menu. Their defence was like the great wall of China with no one welcome over. If someone did get over our keeper was at hand to save a penalty or make a dramatic dive and retrieve the ball. The mid and forward lines were on fire cutting the TSS defence with ease and super attacking smarts. Most attacks attracted a clap from the sideline.
It was like watching a Mission Impossible movie it was so action packed and I suspect the parents would be convinced to pay into the next championship game if asked.
The first half was high scoring and at half time was 1-6 to 1-6. The second half was a famine of points with only 2 goals and 3 points added to the totals. Defence were to the fore and a few BSJ forwards had to retire due to injury. Overall a super Wednesday and a reason to be very proud of this young team. Congrats to Libby Dillon voted player of the match. Roll on next week’s Championship match! I will pay at the door.
