BSJ continue good start to League
Erin’s Isle 0-02 BSJ 3-11
Division 2 is a very competitive league where wins are hard to get and where wins away from home can be very hard to achieve. The BSJ Ladies went on the road this week and put in a very strong team performance to take the league points home to Marlay.
The game started evenly with the hosts playing with wind advantage in the first half. Defences were on top with score chances difficult to come by. Good attacks by BSJ yielded frees which pushed the BSJ girls 3 points in front. Then a penalty earned by Alice that was expertly dispatched to the net by Katie Moran Tighe put a little daylight between the teams. Just before half time a patient team move saw a defence splitting pass find Niamh Leahy inside the cover and she finished expertly to the net to leave BSJ in a strong position.
After the break the BSJ defence again worked well making some great interceptions and forced turnovers to frustrate the Erin’s Isle attack. Good patient play at the other end from BSJ yielded some fine scores from play and with 10 minutes remaining Niamh Leahy found herself inside the cover for the second time and she repeated the trick of the first half grabbing a second goal.
Well done to all 20 BSJ girls who contributed on the night to a good team performance. Congratulations to Alana Doran who was POTM and showed super leadership all through. And a special mention for Sarah Murphy who made her senior debut. Well done Sarah!
There’s a week break now for the bank holiday and then it’s back to Marlay for the next game at home to St. Pat’s Donabate on Wednesday 13th May at 7.30. All support welcome.
