Na mná produced a hugely determined performance to overcome Croí Ró Naofa in a tight and hard-fought Shield Final, eventually running out 3-6 to 2-4 winners.
It was a game that demanded patience, discipline and resilience, particularly after Croí Ró Naofa fought their way back into contention in the second half. But BSJ showed tremendous character to hold their nerve and finish the job.

The opening stages were tightly contested, with both sides creating opportunities and the defences working hard.
BSJ’s defensive shape was excellent from the outset, with Róisín Tuomey, Ciara McCarthy, Sophie Brennan, Steph O’Donohoe, Juliet Moore and Derbhla Nolan working tirelessly to limit Croí Ró Naofa’s opportunities.
At the other end, BSJ gradually began to find their rhythm.
The breakthrough came in the 14th minute, when Nicole McCambridge found the back of the net to give BSJ a deserved lead.
Libby Dillon then added a point from play before Lea Carey followed with another, as BSJ began to put pressure on the Croí Ró Naofa defence.
🧡 One More Goal Before Leath Ama
BSJ continued to grow into the game and were rewarded again in the 23rd minute when Christine McCambridge finished brilliantly to put further daylight between the sides.
Eabha McCuskar added a point from a free before Layla Hemp got on the scoresheet from play.
BSJ’s defensive work remained outstanding, with Derbhla Nolan leading the defensive effort and the entire backline refusing to give Croí Ró Naofa easy opportunities.
At the break, BSJ held a 2-4 to 0-2 lead.
🔥 Croí Ró Naofa Fight Back
The second half brought a completely different challenge.
Croí Ró Naofa came out with renewed intensity and quickly added two points, before Eabha McCuskar settled BSJ with an excellent point from play.
Then came a major turning point.
Croí Ró Naofa were awarded a penalty in the 37th minute and converted, reducing the deficit and giving BSJ plenty to think about.
The pressure increased, but the BSJ defence stood firm.
There were huge contributions all over the pitch, with Sadhbh Ní Uileagóid winning important possession, Sophie Brennan battling for every ball and Derbhla Nolan continuing to lead from the heart of the defence.

Croí Ró Naofa managed to find another goal in the 43rd minute, cutting the gap to just a point.
Suddenly, a game that had looked firmly in BSJ’s control was very much alive.
But this group has shown throughout the season that they have character.
Rather than panic, BSJ regrouped.
Christine McCambridge responded with an important point, while the players introduced from the bench brought fresh energy and helped restore the team’s shape and intensity.
Fiona Watters, Mya Costello, Neve Molloy, Alex Campbell and Lucia Hosey all made valuable contributions when called upon.
⭐ A Special Finish- Críoch den scoth!
With the game still in the balance, BSJ continued to battle for every possession.
There were chances at both ends, including a couple of narrowly missed opportunities, but the girls remained disciplined and continued to work for each other.
Then came a very special moment.
With BSJ still holding their nerve, Lea Carey found the back of the net to seal the victory and send the BSJ celebrations into full swing.
It was made even more special by the large Carey family contingent watching from the sidelines, including Lea’s grandad. The cheer that went up when Lea hit the back of the net was absolutely massive, a brilliant family moment on a brilliant day for Lea and the team.

Derbhla Nolan was the choice for Player of the Match following a superb defensive performance.
Derbhla led the defensive wall with strength, composure and determination throughout the final. She was constantly involved in winning possession, breaking up Croí Ró Naofa attacks and helping to organise those around her.
Her leadership was particularly important during the difficult spell in the second half when Croí Ró Naofa came back into the game.
It was a brilliant team defensive performance, but Derbhla was outstanding at the heart of it and thoroughly deserved the Player of the Match award.

And after the disappointment of missing out on the Cup semi-final, the girls responded in exactly the right way, by regrouping, working harder and winning the Shield.
