Today was a very special day for Ballinteer St Johns as our Minor C hurlers took to the newly renovated All Weather Pitch for its first competitive game, and they certainly made their mark! 🟠⚫
And what a way to start life on the new pitch…
⏱️ Less than a minute on the clock, and *Louis De Chaumont wrote his name into BSJ history,* finding the back of the net to score the first ever score on the new AWP! ⚡️
Ballyboden St Enda’s responded with a point, but BSJ hit back quickly, with Wesley Earle producing a fantastic individual effort to fire home BSJ’s second goal after just five minutes.
The game settled into a competitive spell, with both sides trading scores. Louis took responsibility from frees, converting three from three, while BSJ continued to work hard across the pitch.
Then, right on the stroke of half-time, Daniel Manley finished off a brilliant team move, with the ball worked beautifully from one end of the pitch to the other before Daniel scrambled it into the net.
*HALF-TIME: BSJ 3-4 | BBSE 0-3*
Boden came out much stronger after the break and BSJ lost their shape for a spell. BBSE took full advantage, enjoying a strong ten-minute period and scoring 1-3 without reply.
But the lads regrouped.
After 16 minutes, Micheal O’Kelly got BSJ back on the scoreboard with a point, quickly followed by two more scores as Johns began to find their rhythm again.
Then came the turning point…
💥 20 minutes: Torin Cunningham found the back of the net with a fantastic goal to put BSJ back in the driving seat.
From there, the lads grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and began to dominate. Just two minutes later, Wesley Earle struck again for his second goal of the afternoon! 🔥
Boden added a late point, but there was still time for Louis De Chaumont to finish off where he started — on the scoresheet — with a point on the stroke of full-time.

A fantastic opening championship performance from the lads, but also a historic day for Ballinteer St Johns as competitive action got underway on our newly renovated All Weather Pitch.
And fittingly, Louis De Chaumont will forever have the honour of scoring the first score on the new AWP. 🏟️🟠⚫
