BSJ 4-12 | Ballyboden St Enda’s 1-4
The Minor C footballers continued their impressive start to the G Championship this morning with another excellent team performance against our neighbours Ballyboden St Enda’s — many of whom the lads faced in last week’s Minor C hurling championship game.
Following a very strong opening championship performance against Lucan a couple of weeks ago, the boys picked up exactly where they left off.
From the throw-in, BSJ played with real intent, moving the ball quickly through the hands, finding space and creating plenty of scoring opportunities.
The half-back line of Aidan Moore, Tom Buckley and Alfie Carroll were outstanding, cutting out attack after attack. Aidan worked tirelessly on the right, winning possession and driving forward to set up attacks, while Alfie put in a superb defensive display to frustrate a very dangerous Boden number 12.
BSJ got on the scoreboard with a fine point from Daniel Doyle, followed by a well-worked point from Louis De Chaumont, before Aidan Moore got forward to fire home a fine goal.
The pressure continued, with Tom Hudson and Shane McCarthy both finding the back of the net. Daniel Doyle added another point, Daniel Farrelly converted a well-taken free from out on the left, and Torin Cunningham added a point before the break.
HALF-TIME: BSJ 3-6 | BBSE 0-0
Despite the scoreline, Ballyboden showed they could be dangerous, with a number of wides and hitting the post twice. The BSJ defence, however, was superb. Fergus Clancy, Daniel McKeown and Conor McLoughlin were excellent in closing down the Boden attacks, winning and clearing possession and helping Ben Dooley keep a clean sheet in the opening half.
The message at half-time was simple — keep the intensity going.
And that’s exactly what the lads did.
With Conor Nolan, Jack Paircear, Micheal O’Kelly and Ronan O’Shea all coming on at various stages, the fresh legs helped BSJ maintain the momentum.
Boden managed to get on the scoreboard during the second half with a goal and a number of points, but BSJ continued to respond at the other end.
Torin Cunningham, Cohen Doyle, Jack Paircear and Louis De Chaumont all added points, with Louis making sure he added to his first-half score.
A lovely team move then saw Soren Doyle start the attack from around halfway, working the ball out to the right before it was moved inside for Daniel Doyle to finish brilliantly to the net.
And just a couple of minutes later, Soren got his own name on the scoresheet with a lovely point.
With 10 different BSJ players getting on the scoresheet, it was a fantastic reflection of the team’s willingness to work for each other and share the ball.

While Daniel Doyle was outstanding with 1-3, and Louis continued to cause problems with his attacking runs and clever movement, there were strong performances all over the pitch.
Louis, in particular, showed great game intelligence in the second half when tightly marked, bringing his defender into the corner and creating space for his teammates to attack.
Fergus Clancy was rock solid at full-back, while every player who took to the field contributed to a superb overall team effort.
There were plenty of contenders for Player of the Match — Daniel, Louis and Fergus all putting in excellent performances — but today’s award went to Aidan Moore. 👏
Aidan was outstanding on and off the ball, never stopped working, constantly won possession and drove the team forward — and even found time to get himself on the scoresheet with a goal! ⚽️
A brilliant individual performance within what was, above all, a brilliant team performance.
Every player played their part. Every score was a team score.
