Match: BSJ B minors V Castleknock B minors.

First Half
Despite tempestuous weather conditions 23 brave ladies turned up for battle on home turf for their
second Championship game against Castleknock. Right from the start our star keeper Helen was
called into action and easily dealt with the early threat. Eight minutes into the game, Clare Rickard
rattled the back of the Castleknock net with our first goal, only to be cancelled out some seven
minutes later with a goal from Castleknock, followed by a point in quick succession. As per her
pre-match free taking practicing, Megan Adderley stepped up on the 21st minute to take a free
which effortlessly ended up in the back of the Castleknock net. Two minutes later after Megan
Goggins floated a ball into the danger area, BSJ got their third goal, thanks to the fast thinking of,
a yet to be identified goal scorer. (Originally thought to be Éabha Mercer but post-match
clarification ruled her out). At half time, the score was BSJ 3-0 Castleknock 1-1.
Second Half
Castleknock came out strong in the second half and scored three points within the first six
minutes, without response from BSJ. The ladies were having none of it and with a few
“encouraging” words from captain fantastic Aoife Shefflin together with a little extra drive and
determination from Molly Cleary in midfield, things changed. 12 minutes into the second half Sadie
Corcoran scored the fourth goal for BSJ after a perfectly placed ball by Mya Costello, which was
followed almost immediately by a point from Megan Adderley. Showing great teamwork, they all
stepped it up a gear and were heading into cruse control. Five minutes later with some great cross
field link up play between Megan Adderley and Megan Goggins, the latter, passing to the waiting
Farah Hogan, before making easy work of it and securing BSJ’s fifth goal of the game. 22 minutes
into the half, Molly Cleary was lost due to an injury but that didn’t slow them down. With a minute
left to play from a very tight angle just short of the 20M line Anna Morris hit an unstoppable shot
to find the back of the net for the sixth time for BSJ. To rub salt in the wounds the final puck of the
game, unfortunately for Castleknock feel to one Mya Costello who gracefully put it over the bar to
bring the curtain down on a well-deserved victory for the ladies. The final score BSJ 6-2
Castleknock 1-5.
