The 2016 girls (u-7s) hosted their first ever home blitz in Broadford on Saturday June 24th. The blitz was a culmination of a successful season with approx. 40 girls attending weeklysince last September. The team developed from learning movement and fundamental skills on the Small AWP to transitioning to Broadford and then playing Mini All Irelands and our first games against other clubs. The mentor group for the team has grown significantly over the course of the season thanks to great support from our parents too.
On the day, each of our 6 teams played 3 short camogiematches against our neighhours St Jude’s from Templeogue. All players got to play in every position and most importantly the focus was on fun and skills development for all. The level of skill on display from both teams was fantastic with great enthusiasm and support shown by the large group of supporters in attendance from both clubs. The mentors were delighted to see the acceleration of skills development fromour players at the end of the season supported by the Mini All Irelands and blitzs against Naomh Olaf and St Jude’s.
The team were delighted to be joined by three of our senior camogie players (Ellie Aherne, Jenny Andrews & Ellie Doran) who presented each of our players with skills certificates and shared words of encouragement to our young team. The day was wrapped up with treats for all the BSJ and St Jude’s players.
Thanks to St Jude’s who contributed to a very successful day. Finally, we want to thank Capital Credit Union Dundrum for their support for the entire nursery this year.
