Seniors V Ballyboden St Endas.

We lined out against a strong Boden team on Saturday afternoon in Loreto. Boden started strongly and kicked the first 3 scores. We kicked off our scoring with well taken points by Luke Cullen, Fearghal Duffy and Eoghan Fitzpatrick. Then a great break by Luke was finished to the net by Rory Morrin. Boden then upped their game and scored the next 5 points to lead by 1-12 to 1-4 at HT. Boden got the first 2 points of the second half which was followed by a great point by Jack Grogarty . Disaster struck for BSJ when an unforced error lead to a Boden goal . They went 10 points up after scoring some good long range points but we never gave up and got some great points and then scored the first of 3 consecutive goals by Eoghan Fitzpatrick. Aodhan Clabby came on as a sub and within a few minutes scored a goal, riffling the ball through a pile of Boden legs. Five minutes later he fielded a high ball turned his man and was dragged down for a penalty which he expertly converted. Unfortunately time was up and we were beating on a scoreline of 1-19 to 4-8. Great credit to all the players who put in a massive effort in what was a very enjoyable game after the dull affair V Crokes on Wednesday night. Best for BSJ were Kevin Mulderrig, Oisin Grady, Eoghan Fitzpatrick , Fearghal Duffy, Luke Cullen and super sub Aodhan Clabby

Inters V St Brigids.

Our Inters played a very important game against bottom of the table St Brigids and won it comprehensively on a scoreline of 4-11 to 1-4. It was a dominant display from the start but scores were slow to come in the first 20 minutes. However before HT Eoghan Seoige turned the ball over on our own half back line and was at the end of the counter attack to calmly finish a great team goal. We went in ahead 1-6 to 0-2 at HT. Scores flowed in the second half with further goals from Conor Budds and Gavin Barton and excellent points from Ben Hyland among others. Best for BSJ were Eoghan Seoige, Naoise Cronin, Ben Hyland, Jack Kenneally, Gavin Barton and Joe Waters. This win guarantees our position in Div 4 for next year with 2 matches still to be played. It is a credit to management that we fielded for all the games and with a bit of luck in a few of our games, we would have been challenging for a promotion spot. The target now is to win our remaining 2 league games and really challenge for that elusive Junior 1 Championship.

Next Match V St Marks: Marlay Park: Saturday 8th July at 6-30pm

Junior A V Na Fianna:

We played our 13 th  league match on Sunday 2 nd  of July away to Na Fianna at Collinstown Ave.  Na Fianna who are having a good season were as expected well organized and physical.  But throughout we showed great leadership through both halves. There was a strong wind, which Kevin McCabe on winning the toss, chose to play with.

In the first half we were creating scoring opportunities and scoring some nice points, Lughaidh Lynch who was playing in the half forwards but was working all over the pitch, made an excellent run and finished it to the net. Unfortunately, we conceded a goal on half time, leaving us a point up. The second half Na Fianna with the advantage of the wind scored early points and a goal. But the character of the BSJ showed through, as we pulled them back to win the game 2-9 to 2-7. Some excellent performances from Mark Erdis, Shane Sheridan and the evergreen Johnny Gillick.

Next up V Naomh Barrog: Marlay Pk; Sunday 9th July at 11am

Junior B V Ballyfermot De La Salle.

Played this Monday in Loreto, this was a great game of football. We played down the hill in the first half but struggled to convert possession into scores and were behind by 2-4 to 0-5 at HT. We hit the ground running in the second half scoring the first 3 points and dominating possession. Having gone 3 points up following an outstanding goal, we conceded a fortuitous goal to bring the scores level. However a great goal by our Minor B player Jack Wedick and a further 2 points put us 5 up. Ballyfermot got a late penalty which was brilliantly saved by another Minor B players Alex Gallagher. Final score 3-11 to 3-6. In addition to Jack and Alex mentioned above, we were well served by our other Minor B players, Eoghan Hanley, Conor Sullivan and Oisin Daffy. Well done young men. But MOTM performance goes to the evergreen Tony Gillick who marshaled his defense and restricted Ballyfermot to just 1-2 in the second half. A special mention also to Neil Mc Grath, another veteran who on his 45th birthday kicked 3 great points. We have now concluded our League campaign , finishing a credible fifth. Roll on the championship.
