Two league titles in a row

Game: U14 Div 9 Camogie League Round 7
Score: Erin Go Bragh 2-1 Ballinteer St Johns 3-5

It was a titanic battle in the 20+ degrees final round game in which BSJ  led the table 10points to EGB 9pts going in to today's final game. It all started brightly for BSJ but they just couldn't score in the first quarter despite some great effort and all the play; at the water break it was all square 0-0 each.

After strong words from management, BSJ came out in second quarter with a huge determination to deliver from on all their pressure in the first half. After great work across the front 6 we were headed to the half time break 1-2 to no score at half time only for a last ditch 45 from EGB which was well stopped under huge pressure by the stand-in BSJ keeper and the whistle was blown for half time.

At half time the girls knew they were close to winning the title but any lack of effort would be punished and right at the start of the second half EGB came out fighting with all they had to win the title. After huge pressure EGB finally broke through and scored a point quickly followed by a goal to send the blood pressure for all on the sideline to an all new high. With only a point between the teams and EGB now in control the girls dug deep and with a swift move just before the end of the 3rd quarter they moved the ball up the field and countered with a fantastic goal to re-establish their lead before the water break.

In the final quarter BSJ pulled away with some strong performances thoughout the team. EGB had thrown everything they had at them and two swift points at the start of the quarter knocked the wind out of their sails. An excellent goal from our midfield attacking at pace sealed the deal for a hugely deserving team.

Having won the league last year the pressure was on the girls all year to repeat their success and under huge pressure with a lot of hard word and some really well taken points they repeated their success of last year. Such and excellent team performance and well deserved after great commitment to their training and matches all year.
