ADULT CAMOGIE ROUNDUP - Week ending 22/04/23
Senior Camogie (Senior 1)
The senior camogie team made it back-to-back Division 1 wins with a comprehensive victory away to Oliver Plunketts. Ballinteer were 4-16 to 1-4 winners in Ashtown with an impressive array of scores and scorers and a dominant defensive display. The senior team is in its first year back in the top flight after an unbeaten Senior 2 league and championship season in 2022. After a couple of narrow early defeats BSJ have settled well and are sitting mid-table with a game against Castleknock on May 2nd in Marlay Park up next in Round 6.
Intermediate Camogie (Inter 2)
Ballinteer went down to an impressive second-half showing from a strong Castleknock intermediate team in Marlay Park on Thursday. The first half was strongly contested with just a score separating the sides at half time. The visitors pushed on from there with several points from frees and some well worked scores from play. A goal from Fiona Hayes sparked the contest back to life but Castleknock finished the stronger and stretched the lead with a flurry of late scores to run out 1-16 to 1-3 winners. The Ballinteer Intermediate camogie team started the league campaign with a good win away to Thomas Davis before coming out the wrong side of a tight tussle with Kilmacud Crokes. Next game is away to Naomh Olaf A team in Round 4 of the Intermediate 2 league on Thursday 27th April.
Junior Camogie (Junior 5)
Our Junior camogie team hosted top-of-the-table Castleknock in Marlay Park in an entertaining, high scoring encounter on Thursday. The visitors were fast out of the blocks racking up a half time lead of 5-7 to 1-0. But after the break Ballinteer responded well and really took the game to the league leaders. Displaying plenty of resilience and fighting spirit they turned the tie into a real contest, outscoring the opposition by 10 points in that second half. Castleknock had to dig deep for an eventual 6-10 to 6-1 victory. BSJ are sitting third in the Junior 5 table after an earlier victory over Naomh Peregrine and draw with Kilmacud Crokes. They face Good Counsel in a home tie in Marlay Park on May 4th in the next round.
