The weekend matches yielded another 3 out of 4 winsmaking it a successful week

Seniors V Skerries Harps. After an exciting first half against St Vincents when we scored 3-6 in the first half , the first half V Skerries was a low oxygen affair. Due to poor shot options and last passes going astray the score at half time was 5 points each with our scores mainly coming from the trusty boot of OisinGrady. The second half was a big improvement and we got 1-5 without reply before they got their first score. The goal came from a strong run by Tom Aherne who lost possession but was able to get the ball to Liam Fenton who expertly finished to the net. While Skerries came back into it with a few well taken long ranged points we held on for a win on a scoreline of 1-12 to 0-11. Best for BSJ were Paddy Connaughton,  Eoin Fitzpatrick ,Liam Smith, Liam Fenton and Oisin Grady

We are now on 13 points with 4 games left to play which is the highest number of points we have got since our return to Division 1 six years ago. We stand 3 points off Lucan Sarsfieldat the top of the table.

Our next game is against Kilmacud Crokes next Weds in Silver Park at 7-30

Intermediate V St Finians Swords. After the great win against second placed team Clontarf mid week, the Inters faced a hard Saturday night match away to Finians who are 4th in the table. We suffered a big setback in the first half when two of our more experienced players, Sam Tully and Collie Egan went off injured. However we still created most of the scoring chances in the first half which we did not get a return on, so we went in 0-6 to 0-5 down. The lads put in a massive second half performance and second half goals from Eoghan Seoige and Ben Hyland put us in the driving seat and we won on a soreline of 2-10 to 0-11. A great performance by a team , so heavily depleted that the Manager, the evergreen Collie O Donnell had to go on near the end

Next up is a home match V St Finans of Newcastle next Weds inLoretto  at 7-30.

Junior A V St Judes. Our Junior A faced a tough match against an experienced St Judes team who are second in the table. Westarted poorly and were down 1-9 to 1-2 after 15 mins. However we fought back well and scored 5 points before the break. In the second half we put in a great fight but lost Cathal Morrissey and Shane Mc Greevey through injury.  While the game was still there to be won we missed a penalty . St Judes then kicked the last 4 points of the game to run out winners on a scoreline of 2-15 to 1-11. Best for BSJ were Sean Mc Gee, Cathal Morrissey, Lughaidh Lynch, Cathal Mc Garrigle and Sean Gildea. A speedy recovery to Shane Mc Greevy, Cathal Morrissey and Phelim Mc Cann who suffered injuries.

Next up is a home match next Tuesday V St Peregrines in Marlay 7-30

Junior B V Kilmacud Crokes: We were looking for our sixth win in a row.The boys from Stillorgan started with a flourish. In the first ten minutes Crokes with a team in their twenties and thirties looked like overpowering the (much) more experienced Johns team, leading 1.1 to no score. However as they say Class is Permanent and BSJ showed that, we kept chipping away at the score board and experience started getting the better of youth. A great goal from Billy Davern, followed by a quick point brought us back into the game as Tony Gillick, Dixie Reilly and DarraghQuinn settled down the back line with Joey Gormley covering every inch of space and Sean Gunnigan making so many important tackles. As the first half reached 20 minutes on the clock the game got into a nice rhythm as Johns started dominating the game with Cian Hallanin and George Walker conducting the orchestra from midfield ably assisted by ConorReilly who knitted the half back line and the half forward line together with his running. Andy Kane and Rory Kyne just would not yield against younger opposition while Brian Monohan did his Mohammed Ali impression “floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee”. As the first half ended “Mr Granite” aka Ciaran McCabe switched from half back to corner forward and created havoc in the Crokes defence in the same uncompromising way that he had put down the Crokes attack. Johns were a couple of points to the good at half time with Cavan’s Shane McGonigle showing the importance of a powerful centre forward kicking points and making plays. Conor and Sean Murphy were welcome additions to the team around half time and both got straight into the action. The second half started like the first with Crokes in the ascendancy forcing a penalty. Goalie Steve got down to his left and pushed the penoaway - Johns back on the attack increasing their lead at the other end, but Crokes were not done as two attacks led to great goal scoring opportunities but Steve Callaghan did what he always does with two more top quality saves. Shay Farelly came on into at corner forward and quickly got in to the game. We also brought on Matt Waters and in five minutes the game was secured, Matt scoring 1.1 and making Johns third goal which was expertly dispatched by Ciaran McCabe capping a great performance by Johns and a wonderful game of football - 19 Men of the Match though credit to Goalie Steve whose resilience in the first 10 minute of each half laid the foundations for the rest of the team to win the game. Final score BSJ 3-10 to 1-6

Next up is V Croi Ro Naofa in Killinarden Pk  on 22nd June  at 7-30
