Adult Matches Team Report

Last week was the first week of Adult Football Championship Matches and it was a successful one with 3 wins out of 4.

Seniors V TSS : Senior 1.

We started in attacking form and dominated possession but failed to put the scores up. Our first score came from a Luke Breathnach free. We followed up with a goal by Donnacha Carey following a great movement and a point by Fearghal Duffy. We subsequently kicked 4 wides in a row before we got a second goal, again a great movement with Liam Fenton finishing to the net. At HT we went in 2-5 to 0-6 up having kicked 7 wides.

We got the first score of the second half and then got hit by 2 TSS goals within 10 mins to level it We rallied well and Ben Millist got on the end of a great point followed by another 3 great points from Luke Breathnach . Again, TSS came back with a goal to leave only 2 between us. Mark Mc Nally came off the bench to score an outstanding goal. If SKY were present, they would show 20 replays. He took the ball on the overlap 55 metres from the TSS goal, went straight at goal pursued by two TSS players and cooly placed the ball past the advancing keeper. With further points we were 7 ahead when TSS were awarded a bizarre penalty for an alleged foot block. We finished winners on a scoreline of 3-14 to 4-8. Best for BSJ were Joe Sweeney , Luke Breathnach ( 9 points , 4 from play and 5 from frees) Fearghal Duffy, Donnacha Carey and Mark Mc Nally with his super goal.

Lots of positives but also lots to work on before we meet our neighbours Ballyboden in the next round. Date and time TBC.

Inters V St Maurs.  Junior 1 Championship.

Very much like the seniors we dominated possession in the early stages but failed to convert. Having got the first point it was followed up by an outstanding goal from Eoghan Seoige. Maurs got the next 2 points but we scored the next 3 points from Cillian Minogue , Gavin Barton and Niall Dunphy to go in at HT 1-5 to 0-4 up.

Maurs got the first point of the second half followed by a BSJ point. Then Maurs struck for a goal to leave only 1 point in it. Our response was swift, and we scored the next 3-3 with attractive quick movements. Scores came from goals from Ben Hyland , Ronan Cullen and Paddy Quinn Glennon. Maurs came back with1-2 and the game ended with BSJ winning on a scoreline of 4-11 to 2-6. Best for BSJ were Paddy Quinn Glennon , Ben Hyland, Eoghan Seoige, Ronan Cullen, Kevin Mulderrig, and Niall Dunphy.

Next up is Na Fianna in Mobhi Road Sunday 27th at 11

Junior A V Round Towers Lusk . Junior 2 Championship

This was always going to be a tough assignment playing away from home against a team playing near the top of a division one higher than us. However, we put up a great performance but will rue the many missed opportunities created in the first half. It was a tight game all the way through with only a few scores separating the teams throughout the hour. However, we were pipped by the narrowest of margins in the end on a scoreline of 2-8 to 0-15 with the goals coming from Cathal Mc Garrigle and Eoin Hosey.

Best for BSJ were Oscar Cronin, Sean Gildea, Finn Nolan, Cathal Mc Garrigle and Seamus Comer.

Next up is Naomh Barrog in Marlay Pk on Sunday 27th

Junior B V St Judes. Junior 6

This was a great win for the Junior B team made up of young players and not so young. We played down the hill with a gale force wind in the first half but only had a point on the board after 5 minutes. We got the scoreboard then clicking to go in at HT 9 points to no score up. Would it be enough playing against the gale in the second half.?

Right from the start of the second half we dominated in everyline of the pitch and with intelligent football and strong running we opened up St Judes . The flood gates opened with a Barry O Brien goal and then the young Cody Graham rattled the back of the net following a strong run through the middle. We kept putting up the scores with 8 different scorers and the elder Collie O Donnell lead the way with 7 points in total, 5of which came from play.  We finished winning on a scoreline of 3-16 to 0-3. All 20 players contributed greatly to the win against a team a division higher. On a final note, we wish Tiernan Mc Donnell the very best of luck as he takes up a teaching job in Quatar.

Next up is St Annes in Bohernabreena on Sunday 27th August at 3
